Is A Sudden Increase In Hemoglobin Level After Taking Iron Pills Normal?

I am a 59 yr female. Last week from hemoglobin level was 8.5. Prescribed iron pills twice a day and changed to an iron rich diet. My level jumped to 11.0 in 6 days. Everything I ve read said it takes weeks to increase levels. Can you tell me why i m increasing so easily

Hello,

Iron supplements and iron-rich food items increase hemoglobin, however, an increase from 8.5 to 11 gm% within 6 days is not likely.
I suggest you take iron supplements and iron-rich foods and get hemoglobin and iron studies after two months.
