Is A Swollen Black Eye After Being Hit By A Ball A Cause For Concern?

Just over 24 hours ago I was playing baseball and took a bad bounce to the face. It hit my cheekbone and I swelled up instantly. To say the least, I have a killer black eye but my boyfriend is worried about a concussion. I played my last two games and had some drinks that night so I don t know if my symptoms are from the alcohol or the ball.

Thank you for asking the question.
This is a bruise. It will take time to disappear. It may take up to 21 days to disappear completely. CT scan is done to rule out brain injury if there are any signs and symptoms that suggest brain injury for example, head ache, blurring of vision, weakness of body, loss of consciousness, nausea nd vomitting. If you have no symptoms of brain injury then CT scan can be skipped. but monitor yourself closely for the above signs and symptoms.
Best wishes.
