Is A Swollen Lower Jaw, Post Wisdom Teeth Extraction, A Cause For Concern?
My daughter had her wisdom teeth removed Dec 30, everything went fine, she did very well-little pain, little swelling, took all the antibiotics, rinsed mouth, followed all instructions perfectly. Today her left lower jaw is swollen, little pain/some tenderness, should we contact the oral surgeon?? We have ice on it now
As per your complain swelling of the lower jaw after almost about a month after wisdom tooth extraction can be due to causes like any remaining tooth piece in the wisdom tooth extraction socket, Infection in the extraction area, foreign body impaction in the extraction site..
It can also be related to any infected adjacent tooth to the wisdom tooth like any decayed adjacent molar tooth..
Yes, you should consult your Oral Surgeon and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigation like x ray can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
As of now you can give her anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen along with Serratiopeptidases and keep icing the swelling..
Hope this helps..
Regards..
