Is A Swollen, Sore To Touch Area Around The Groin A Cause For Concern?

My 38 year old son just discovered a quarter size swollen area above his groin near where his leg and body meet. It is sore to the touch plus some area around it. He has no other symptoms. Wondering what this might be and if its any sort of emergency.

Hi,

You seem to have an enlarged lymph node in inguinal region. This enlargement is due to some infection, inflammation in lower extremity / pelvis. If it is painful, there is fever. You need physicians consultation, examination and investigations as per need, followed by specific treatment including suitable antibiotic.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
