Is A Trach Vent Obstructive In Case Of Choking?
I have a question about my sister, she was put on a trech (vent in neck to breath on air) you know while she is asleep, she hooks it up at night she is in nursing home,and wants to come home. If I let her come home, and say she started to choke on something, would I have a hard time helping her because of the breathing tube.

Yes, it would very difficult for you to handle if she chokes her tracheostomy tube at home. You need a suction machine, sodium bicarbonate solution, suction catheter etcetera. And above all, you need expertise in suctioning. So if you are planning to bring her home, you need to keep one nursing assistant round the clock for all these. Otherwise, for you, it will be very difficult.
