Is Abdominal Pain And Nausea Normal While On Cholecalciferol For Vitamin D Deficiency?
Hello, I have had devastating fatigue for as long as I can remember and food intolerances (dairy and possibly gluten). I was tested for celiac disease recently but result was negative. I now have a vitamin D deficiency 14nmol/L and have been prescribed Colecalcirerol 800IU. Since starting the capsules I have started having stomach ache and some nausea. Here are my questions: 1 Is it common for the above medication to cause the side effects I mention? 2 Is there an alternative treatment? Thank you
Vitamin D supplement is the best treatment for deficiency.Apart from sunlight exposure, this vitamin is difficult to obtain from food sources. High level of vitamin D may not be obtained form food alone.
You can try a different brand or use 60 k dose of vitamin D3 as tablets or injection. This should be taken only once a week.4 to 8 weeks treatment may be required.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
