Is Abnormal ESR Level The Cause Of Pain In Chest?

Hi. I am 21 years old and i am having pain at the left side below the chest. I consulted a doctor and he told me some test to be done. And in the reports everything is normal but ESR is 24mm but normal rate should be 0-5mm it seems. So, is there any problem in that ad why am i getting pain ?

Hello. The ESR is a test that detects inflammation in any part of the body. It is a non-specific test, not diagnostic for a disease, and more tests are usually done to ascertain the specific cause.

I'm unaware of what other tests you have undergone, but if your doctor says everything is fine, a trial of anti-inflammatory medicines maybe all that is required.

Kindly discuss with your doctor for the same if pain doesn't subside/ worsens, for further workup.
Hope this helps. Take care.
