Is Activated Charcoal Effective In The Treatment Of Toe Nail Fungus?
I have a bad case of toe nail fungus for years the over the counter antifungul with tea tree oil keeps it down somewhat but it will not go away. Is activated charcoal a effective treatment? If so how much is safe to take? I am 77 and weigh 190 good health otherwise.
The activated charcoal has been used for nail fungus and you can try it to see if it works for you. It can take up to 3 months for nail fungus to improve. If there is no improvement then you may want to consider taking traditional medication to see if this helps. Oral anti fungal medication need to be used for 6 weeks to 3 months to improve toe fungus because they have to work from the inside to the outside- enter the blood stream, go to the nails and treat the infection.
I hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Michelle Gibson James
