Is Air Travel Safe After Surgically Treating Enlarged Adenoids?

My 6 year old Daughter has been diagnosed with enlarged adenoids and surgery has been recommended. We have to fly to India from N America (high altitude) in next 1.5 months, if we cannot get surgery before leaving, will the high altitude affect her....and if we do get surgery before, it is ok to fly after 6 weeks after surgery. Please let me know?

Hello,

6 weeks after adenoidectomy is enough time to recover. The child can safely fly six weeks after surgery as well as 6 weeks before the procedure.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
