Is Alcohol Advisable While On Klonopin For Epilepsy?
hi I am epileptic And take klonopin 3 times a week before bedtime but have taken it for years every nite and morning and would have occasional , few glasses of wine at nite --- is that goin g to effect me the same as if someone who drinks dail y taking 2 mgs per day? -
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Klonopin is composed of 'clonazepam', which is a benzodiazepine. It is an anti-epileptic drug, which is used to treat certain seizure disorders in adults and children. Moderate interaction is noted with Klonopin and alcohol. It can increase nervous system side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness and difficulty in concentration. Some people may also experience impairment in thinking and judgment. Hence, it is strictly advised that you should avoid or limit the use of alcohol while being treated with Klonopin.
