General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Klonopin is composed of 'clonazepam', which is a benzodiazepine.
It is an anti-epileptic drug, which is used to treat certain seizure disorders in adults and children.
Moderate interaction is noted with Klonopin and alcohol. It can increase nervous system side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness and difficulty in concentration. Some people may also experience impairment in thinking and judgment.
Hence, it is strictly advised that you should avoid or limit the use of alcohol while being treated with Klonopin. Also, you need to avoid activities requiring mental alertness such as driving or operating hazardous machinery.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
Best wishes,
Regards,
Dr.Ashakiran.S.,
