Is Alcohol Advisable While On Xifaxan For IBS?

I have a surgical abdomen and intestinal issues of 8 years. I recently had my colonoscopy and my GI has put me on Xifaxan for 2 weeks 3x/p for IBS w/D. I am going to an event and was wondering if I can drink wine or beer while taking this medication. Thank you. MaryLynn

Hi.

Alcohol is advised against not only while on xifaxan but also for IBS. So please avoid it completely.
