Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is Alcohol Consumption Advisable While Being On Clonazepam?
Hello i am prescribed .5 mg of clonazapam twice daily and got in a car accident last week. They gave me percocet 10/375 at the ER. I was reviewing the drug interactions, and it seems unsafe. I took my normal clonazapam dosage at noon today, and took the oxycodone 6 hours later. It is now 10 and i was wondering when I can safely consume alcohol as im getting ready to attend a family get togeather. An not drinking is not an option.
Dear welcome to HCM my questions for you 1) For what conditions you had been prescribed clonazepam? 2) how much Oxycodone you are consuming?
my suggestions 1) clonazepam and alcohol have both sedating properties. Together their sedation can addiditvely be dangerous if taken in large doses. Clonazepam 0.5 mg is not a high dose therefore it is unlikely to cause heavy sedation. however if you are planing to consume alcohol I would suggest to skip the dose of clonazepam when you consume alcohol. 2) Oxycodone is also sedating. However before commenting, I would need to known since how long and how much, and for what reason have you been taking it.
you can revert back with the information on my personal link. It is always safer and best if you could consult your treating consultant regarding your problem as he has the best information.
