Is Alcohol Consumption Post Propofol Intake Harmful?
My wife had a colonoscopy today from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. I believe propofol was used as the anesthesia. Sometime after 5:00 p.m. today she consumed 750 ml of 12.5% wine. It is now 8:00 p.m. and she is sleeping. She is 53 years of age and 150 lbs. Is she at risk? Should I let her sleep or is this of some grave concern?
ok, the drugs have effects while there are there and not as much when they aren't. The propofol is gone if someone wakes up. So, interaction with it won't occur. 750 ml implies a strong likelihood of alcohol problems and a hangover which could be a bit worse with having the propofol. It is unlikely but at least possible for someone to have withdrawal seizures. Generally with obvious shakes prior to the seizures.
