Is Alcohol Consumption Safe While On Esomeprazole?
Good day, I just wAnted to ask a question. I'm on heavy medication and one of the pill bottles say don't drink while taking this medication [esomeprazole]. Just wanted to know could I drink a glass of red wine with dinner while on this medication. Or just wait it out till I'm done taking the medication.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...
Yes consumption of alcohol is safe while you are taking esomeprazole. But both of them should not be taken togethar. Esomeprazole should be taken on empty stomach one hour before taking any meals in morning. So you could take esomeprazole in morning & have a glass of wine in dinner if your liver condition is normal. Consumption of alcohol may be harmful in liver problems. Also in some patients there is worsening of gastric reflux in GERD( gastro esophageal reflux disease). So if your gastric problem worsens alcohol consumption should be stopped in that case.
Refer to your physician Hope this information helps
