Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I Have been taking 600mg of gabapentin for two days. I had a half beer and a small glass of wine with no side effects. Will moderate drinking, up to 2.5 ounces of whisky, have any bothersome side effects? I expect to only be on this drug for a month. Thanks, Henry Hurley
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Alcohol and Gabapentin does not have any drug interaction and thus doesn’t produce any adverse effects. But keep in mind that they both potentiates each other so you may get high with small amount of alcohol.
Also the sedative effect of Gabapentin may get heightened when combined with alcohol.
Wishing you good health.
Thanks
