Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My daughter is 5 years old . She has developed hairless patches in her scalp in different areas . Dr. said it is alopetia areata . She has undergone 2 times dermojet procedure in last 2 months. Some hair has come but not appreciable change. I am very worried please let me know if this is curable.
In cases where only a small area us involved, we can expect resolution by 8-12 months. This can recur a few times, but ultimately most them will overgrow this. Only few cases, especially when a larger area is affected, have bad prognosis. Your dermatologist can give more details.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
