Is An A1c Reading Of 14 A Cause For Concern?

My A1c is 14 I don t eat right I know but when I eat it s fruits and tomato, cucumber and onion salad in italian dressing . I don t like heavy meals and don t like eating more than one time a day. I have been on 3 different insulins do you think I have damaged somehting in or on my body.

Hi,

Noted your short history about having HbA1c of 14 in spite of 3 different insulin and taking only fruits, tomatoes and onion salad in Italian dressing.
Surely this is a great great concern as the values indicate that over the last 3 months your diabetes is out of control.
The possibility can be that your are not preserving Insulin in a proper way so that the potency and effectiveness if insulin is gone.
Or there is under-dose of Insulin.
Since you have not posted the recent levels of blood sugars and urine sugars it is difficult to know the present status.
Hence I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Consult your Diabetologist immediately.
Get all the relevant investigations.
Ultrasonography or CT scan for pancreas.
Blood Insulin levels.
And follow the dose schedule as would be advised by your Diabetologist.
