Is An Emotional Support Animal Effective In Managing Stress And Anxiety?

Hi, my name is Greg. I was diagnosed with epilepsy at the young age of 11. Unfortunately, this also caused me to have severe anxiety as I ll never forget the fear I was struck with. My neurologist says I should do my best not to stress or be anxious because that could trigger a potential seizure, but I m struggling on my own. Would an ESA dog be a wise idea for me?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Anything which makes you happy and stress free, you should definitely do. There is no harm in it and it won't affect your epilepsy or anxiety. Try to involve in activities you used to enjoy earlier. Share your thoughts, sleep for adequate time and have healthy meals on time.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
