Is An Extrea Piece Of Skin Near The Anus Of A Toddler A Cause For Concern?

Hi my grandaughter is 2years old and has an extra peice of skin near her anus, i thought it was a hemorrhoid and because about three times now ive wiped her and on toilet paper was a red drop of blood but my daughter in law took her to doctors today they said not a hemorrhoid just an extra flap of skin ,so what can be done, does it bother her, will it bother her, is it dangerous? Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns. I agree with your grand daughters pediatrician that this extra skin is exactly that just extra skin. There is nothing to worry about and will gradually resolve as she gets older.
