Is Anal Pain And Irritation Normal After Insertion Of Enema Tip?
Two days ago I had diarrhea and needed to get on a flight so I took two pepto bismol pills. I had crazy constipation this morning--so hard I was literally trying to stick my finger in my anus and grab out the poop. My husband got me miralax [I had four doses] and an enema from the pharmacy, and that worked right away with a huge, still hard, BM. This was seven hours ago and my anus is still so sore that it hurts to walk normally. Now I feel like I need to go diarrea, but when I try to push, even gently, it burns and hurts so much and I am holding it in. Is this normal after an enema?
Welcome to HealthcareMagic.com. Sorry about the pain and constipation. I think that the enema did not really do this, I believe that the constipation itself is the culprit. That hard stool remember comes out of the anal orifice without changing shape as softer stool does, therefore it tears part of your anus as it comes out. This is why you are still sore, it is going to take a few days for the stretching to go back to normal and the micro-tears to heal. I would not worry too much about it, however increase your fruits, vegetables and water to avoid this from happening in the future. I hope this clears things up and good luck.
