Is Antacid Gel The Right Medication For Throat Infection And Fever After Taking Alcohol?

hi my name is Leo from India Bangalore, after long time ive been to a party and consumed alcohol the next day my throat is very much infected, and feeling feverish, and i have been prescribed, anesthetic antacid gel ( mucaine ) suspension is this right

Hi and thanks for the query,
I do not think that antacid is the right medicine for you.
While acid reflux can cause sore throat but it will never cause fever.
Fever always indicates the presence of infection.
You have pharyngitis - infection of the throat.
Take any over the counter pain killer for sore throat.
Pls follow some general measures.
1) Warm salt water gargling 4 times daily.
2) Avoid cold foods and air conditioning.
3) Drink plenty of fluids.
If you do not feel better in the next 3 days pay a visit to the doctor.
You will require an appropriate antibiotic.
