Is Antibacterial Ointment Application Advisable For A Tear On Scrotum?
Hi, So I fell off my bike and, somehow, I cut my scrotum pretty badly. The cut is probably .5cm deep and an inch long and on the right side of the base of the shaft of my wang. I went to play beer die after that in the sand and was diving around. I cleaned the wound and put Neosporin on it, so I don t think any sand got in the wound. Should I try and create a butterfly bandage for it? Will it heal if I just let it heal on its own, while applying antibacterial ointment? Or should I try to stitch it up myself? Let me know, Thanks
You really cannot stitch it up yourself. You cannot get a good angle and good visualization of that area to start with. And there's the entire issue of having good surgical equipment for it. Worse, is packing the area with germs and dirt and sealing it up with that inside. There is the risk of that if one is suturing an area oneself without even being able to see it properly.
The reasons for suturing are to keep dirt and infection out of a wound and for faster healing. If the area has been open for > 24 hrs, there's been wound healing/scarring forming already and suturing probably won't do very much. if it is a shorter period of time, the suturing will have faster and more sure healing.
