Is Antiseptic Cream Advisable When Suffering From Burns?
Hi There.. I burnt my arm when getting something out of the oven 6 days ago. After reading your descriptions I would say it is a 2nd degree burn. It s about 2cm long & It had blistered, & is now developing a scab, but it s so sore as I keep accidently knocking it. It s slightly swallen & red around the outside. I swim & go into the sauna & I m wondering if this is aggravating it? How should I treat it? With an antiseptic cream? & if so what type? & should I be covering it when I swim/sauna?. Thank you for your time. Natasha
Hi, Keep burn wound open and clean with antiseptic lotion. Apply antibiotic cream but preferably apply gauze piece soaked in Betadine lotion. You might require one course of antibiotic medicine like Amoxicilin or Levofloxacilin for 5-7 days. Avoid swimming or taking sauna bath for few days. Ok and take care.
