Is Arteriovenous Malformations A Inherited Disorder?

My daughter has been diagnosed with an AVM in her left frontal lobe. My question is...I have venous lakes on my brain stem. Are they the same and is it a hereditary condition? My doctor said for me not to worry about it. Her AVM seems to have a more serious tone.

Hello,

AVM is not a hereditary disorder, so I agree with your doctor on this point. Anyway, the AVM may lead to bleeding and epilepsy seizures. For this reason endovascular treatment may be necessary if there is evidence of repeated bleeding.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
