As a preface, I plan on making an appointment with my gynecologist who I haven t seen in about 3 years. But I have been having what seems to be pain in both ovaries and some lower back pain that has lasted abut a week now. I am 55 in quite good health although I did have breast cancer about ten years ago. I am concerned about ovarian cancer of course.... as once you have cancer, you tend to immediately jump to that thought...and of course it s not out of the realm of possibility. But can benign ovarian cysts cause these kinds of symptoms as well?
Yes,benign ovarian cysts can cause pain if there is any complications in cysts like hemorrhage, infection, increase in size etc. Generally simple ovarian cysts are benign in nature doesn't lead to cancer. However if there is complications, you need further investigations like USG,CT Scan, tumour markers and clinical correlation. Hope i have answered your query.
