Is Biopsy Recommended For A Recurring Brain Stem Glioma Tumor?

I was diagnosed with a brain stem glioma 7 years ago. I had radiation and chemo (temodar) and the tumor practically disolved. 3 months ago it came back and is the same size and shape it was to begin with. I ve had some swallowing issues and my body is not reacting well to the chemo this time. My platelets got down to 13 and my absolute neutrophil was .3 after my second round of chemo. There is talk of doing a biopsy. My doctor recently moved and I have a new one. My old doctor was not for getting a biopsy and I was in agreement. Lots of risk and not many choices in how to treat it even if they are able to get tissue. what are your thoughts?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Biopsy is required to confirm the diagnosis. You can opt for a stereotactic surgery for best results.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
