Is Black Patches In Vision Normal While Having Headache And Migraine?

Yesterday I had a headache, I do get migraines but this was just a normal headache until my vision went completely red, not tinged with red but it was like all the colours got sucked out until bright red was all that was left. The headached got worse until it became a migraine during the night and today I have black patches in my vision. Is this normal for a headache/migraine, is it just worse than all the others I've had?

Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Visual disturbances are known to occur with migraine including colored flashes/lights but these issues are intermittent and do not last longer than few minutes. Since your visual symptoms began with a sudden onset of bright red in the visual field which has progressed to a dark patch the next day. It could be possible that you have had a vitreous hemorrhage. I suggest that you consult your ophthalmologist at the earliest to confirm the diagnosis. In case there is a new vessel growth in the retina in one eye , it can cause a bleed into the vitreous. Consult a retina specialist for the same.
