Is Bleeding And Losing The Blood Clot When Removing Gauze After Wisdom Tooth Extraction A Sign Of Dry Socket?

Hello, I just had my wisdom teeth extracted… I had no stitching, holes were left there. I’ve been bleeding for two days. And when I remove gauze the blood clot will come with it when removing the gauze. I decided to stop putting gauze since clot is being removed when taking the gauze away. Is this a sign of dry socket?? I have been having pain and some shaking in the jaw what does that mean??

Hello,

Dry socket is most common complications of wisdom tooth extraction. Mostly symptoms of dry socket are pain after 2-3 days of extraction that may spread to your ear eye temple or neck on the same side of your face from where the tooth was extracted.

It's also accompanied by a foul breathe. Most dry socket heal on their own, but the pain can be intense. If you are experiencing moderate to severe discomfort from pain it would be advisable to seek a dentist. He might irrigate and clean that area and give a dressing in that area and might also prescribe some pain killers.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
