My husband had a stool sampl that had some blood in it. he is scheduled for a colonoscopy, he had asked his doctor before he did the test if it had blood what did that mean and the doctor said either cancer or hemroids. He just got the call and he thinks ( my husband) that it is cancer is there something else it could be. YYYY@YYYY

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Blood in the stool can be due cancer or hemorrhoids but can also be related to (a)diverticular disease- formation of out pockets or out pouches in the colon, (b)inflammatory bowel disease- this mainly refers to crohns or ulcerative colitiis,
(c)non cancerous polyps- growths in the colon that are not cancerous

The colonoscopy would show up any lesions which can then be biopsied to determine exactly what the lesions may be.

I hope this helps
