Is Blood In Stools A Symptom Of Bowel Cancer?

Hello Dr. My friend has multiple health conditions, one of which is that he can bleed out of any opening of his body. He has done a stool test awhile ago and it came back positive for blood. He has not done a colonoscopy as yet because he has been too unwell. He will have to do a 100 km trip for the colonoscopy and the journey takes a lot out of him, (usually vomits all the way). Is it possible to have bowel cancer and not bleed from the bowel? I was wondering if he repeated the stool test and it came back negative, it may not be necessary to do the colonoscopy?

unfortunately, colonoscopy is a must, and a golden standard. yes,one may have a cancer without GI bleeding, but more important, even in these modern, carcinoma infested times, NOT EVERY BLOOD IN STOOL IS CARCINOMA,moreover it is usually something else, internal hemorrhoids,polyps/benign adenomas,colitis,fissures......good luck! he must undergo colonoscopy!
