My ear has been itching me and hurting a bit, so I decided to clean it with a q-tip. After I got done I seen that there is blood on the q-tip. Is this something I should be concern about? I do have a history of ear infections with this same ear, also I had tubes put in my ear as a child.

Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor service. I reviewed your query and here is my answer. As you said you have tubes in ears and you were cleaning your ear with q-tip, so there is almost zero chances of injuring ear drum however you may have injured your auditory canal which may have cause bleeding. In this case, you don't need to worry about that and it will be fine within few days. But i would strongly discourage your this act, and you should never repeat such things in future. Better to be careful or visit a nearest doctor who can clean it for you or do it nicely with cotton swab sticks. But still i wouldn't recommend doing by yourself. Hope i answered your question. Feel free to ask if you have any doubt. Thanks.
