Is Blood Pressure Of 164/119 A Cause For Concern?

I just took my blood pressure and it is 164 over 119. I have been on bp meds and lots of meds for years and it has been fairly under control, but last couple of weeks it has beed crazy high and I don t know why. I did have a TIA in 2004. I have had ringing in my ear all evening. Should I go to ER?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Yes, you should be seen especially with a history of a previous TIA.

There is an increased risk of stroke in persons with a previous TIA or stroke.
Uncontrolled high blood pressure would further increase your risk.

Your medications may need to be altered if they are not adequately controlling your blood pressure

I hope this helps
