Is Blood Pressure Of 194/107/74 A Cause For Concern?

My Mother has regular high blood pressure, and is on mess. Her blood pressure is 194/107/74 right now, and she took 2 of her mess this afternoon. At what point should we take her to th ER? She is fine otherwise. Also she is 92 years old, and very healthy.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Blood pressure that high even after taking regular medicines is definitely of concern irrespective of age.

I would suggest you take her to the ER as its very important to bring the blood pressure in control to avoid further complications like stroke which can be fatal.

Even though she looks healthy and not complaining currently, blood pressure that high should be managed by doctors in ER as soon as possible.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
