Is Blood Pressure Reading Of 149/109, A Matter Of Concern?
I just went into our local walkin clinic just to get a referal to see a dermatologist about my psoriasis. While there, they took my bp and it was 149/109. The dr acted like this is an urgent concern and i have to call and make an appointment tomorrow. I am only 32 and i would say I am overweight at 170lbs and am 5 foot 3 inches. Do i need to be as concerned as they were making it appear?
* The isolated rise in blood pressure is of no clinical significance, but it is the sequential measures of high readings over a period of 3 days with the same instrument, the same technique of BP measurement matters.
* At present, opt for relaxation and YOGA to calm your brain and control the possibly raised BP and be in regular follow up with your doc for further guidelines and management aspects.
* Ideally, salt should be restricted in the diet for a particular period of time approach.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
