Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a female, and I have started a healthy diet of vegetables and protein without, sugar, salt, and butter. I am using a personal trainer, and he requires that I take my body temperature every morning. My question is: my body temperature this morning was 94.7 is that good or bad? I started my diet two days ago and my body temp for those days were 96.4 and 96.1, but today it was 94.7. Please let me know if the 94.7 is okay.
Due to circadian rhythm, the body temperature is lowest in the morning and highest afternoon or evening. However, taking a precaution of exact timing or proper acclimatization of the thermometer to room temperature is essential for the proper reading. However, though normal acceptable range of body temperature is some where between 96.5 F to 99.5. But any reading below 95F is known as hypothermia and it is an medical emergency showing that body is loosing more heat than it is producing. In such cases a consultation with your doctor is advised. If your reading of 94.7 is taken correctly, it is not normal.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Satnarain Bansal, General & Family Physician
