Is Brown Discharge Normal During Perimenopause?

I am 47 yrs old and have been in perimenopause for what seems like 4ever!! My periods have gotten shorter in duration over the last 6 months or so and the flow is very light. I have some brown discharge between periods sometimes also. This month instead of a period i am had a few spots then nothing but the brown discharge. Is this normal at this age and in perimenopause?
