Is Burning Sensation In Esophagus Normal After Eating Steaming Food?
I microwaved a hot dog yesterday, and the first piece I ate didn t seem that hot, but I swallowed it and it felt like my esophagus was on fire. It bothered me for a while last night but then it felt normal. Tonight I was dicing up a red pepper, and ate a slice of the pepper and for the last twenty minutes it is feeling close to the same as after I had eaten the microwaved hot food. Feels like I have to burp, but I can t. So now I am worried its something else, is this common after eating something too hot? And by common I mean if your eating something 24 hrs later, should or can this feeling happen?
Hi, Welcome to healthcare magic. I had gone through your question. I can understand your concern. Yes, this can happen after eating hot foods. You could be having gastric mucosal damage. Nothing to worry you will be fine. I recommend the following.
1) Proton pump inhibitors like tablet rabeprazole 2) Avoid spicy foods. 3) Avoid taking coffee or tea in empty stomach. 4) Sucralfate based syrup helps to heal mucosal damage. You will be fine. Hope I have answered your question. If you have any questions, I am happy to help. Wish you a good health and speedy recovery. Regards, Dr Paparaja S MBBS MS Consultant ENT Surgeon
