Is Bursitis In Hips And Low Bone Density Both Related?

I have bursitis in both hips. I recently had a bone density scan. I have lost 4% in the hip bone since my last scan two years ago. Is there a connection between the two? I am 5'9" tall and weigh 128 lbs. I take a PPI for GIRD. I know that is of concern because it prevents absorption of nutrients, calcium, etc.
