Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is Bypass Surgery Advisable For Total Occlusion Of LIMA And LAD?
I had a 5 Vessel CABG in OCT 2013. In Nov 2013 became more short of breath. Feb 2014 heart cath showed total occlusion of LIMA to LAD. Just recently found out that the LIMA was subtotally occluded when bypass was done. Is that normal procedure for that type of surgery? Had the surgery at the V.A. Hospital.

hi
no it is usually not normal for occlusion of LIMA GRAFT.
THE REASONS FOR OCCLUSION CAN BE DUE TO ANY BLOCK, OR DUE TO VARIATION IN BLOOD PRESSURE EITHER TOO HIGH OR TOO LOW
re-angiogram & angioplasty is the treatment of choice.
take care
