Is Cauterising Uvula When Removing Tonsils And Adenoids Normal?

My 18-yr-old daughter had her tonsils and adenoids removed a week ago. She s had a lot of trouble with gagging and nausea. I noticed tonight, when I looked in her throat, that the surgeon cauterized her uvula. Is this common practice or an accident?

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

Uvula cauterization can be done in sleep apnea, snorizing or choking conditions. Some times uvuloplasty can be done. Don't worry please consult with your ENT specialist he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
