Is Cholesterol Plaque On The Carotid Arteries A Concerned Matter?

My husband had an ultra sound on his carotid arteries. Artery shows some soft cholesterol plaque in both arteries, not enough to stop blood flow but could block small blood clots to take aspirin 81 mg. Should we be concerned. He has been diagnosed as having two old strokes and two recent that we were not away of. He had headaches and the did an MRI of his brain

hi mam,i can understand your apprehension.it is clear that there is no stenosis of carotids which would have been a serious issue.only a small cholesterol plaque is significant as it is in both the arteries and also he had previous asymptomatic or unnoticed episodes of stroke.so, i suggest you to please concentrate on a few aspects,risk factor modification i.e;
1.please quit smoking if you are habituated to.
2.if you are a hypertensive,it must be controlled well.
3.please take a balanced diet which has very low cholesterol,low
carbohydrates,moderate proteins,high fibre.
4.regularly take aspirin as prescribed by your GP.
5.please be vigilant about your blood glucose levels if you are a
diabetic.
anyway you need not restrict too much but just be alert to report any kind of symptoms like dizziness,severe headache,weakness of limbs,loss of consciousness.take care.bye.
