Is Chronic Cervicitis With Ulceration Serious Or Cancerous, And Will Prescribed Antibiotics Cure It Permanently Or Require Repeat Biopsy?

I have chronic cervicitisis with ulceration in biospy report. I have taken some injections and medicines such as Totalees, for 1 month Doxysafe 100, metron 400 as prescribed by doctor for 7 days. My question is whether it is serious issue and is there chances of leading to cancer Will it be cured permanently by consuming the above medicines or it requires biopsy test to be taken once again to check the status of the infections.

Hello,

Chronic cervicitis with ulceration is not the same as cancer, and your biopsy already ruled cancer out. Antibiotics often help. If it is because of some infection, antibiotics can clear it. If it is because of HPV, it may persist and need monitoring. It may be because of hormonal changes also. The biopsy clearly shows only chronic cervicitis; a repeat biopsy is not needed right away.

However, a repeat Pap smear/cervical screening after treatment (in 6–12 months) is recommended. If there is any discharge, bleeding, or pain, you are advised to get a follow-up clinical examination done. You will be accordingly treated. Another biopsy is required only if symptoms don’t improve, the cervix still looks abnormal, or the Pap smear shows new changes.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
