Is Chronic Diarrhea A Symptom Of Food Poisoning?

My husband ate at a restaurant on Saturday night. The next morning he had diarrhea that lasted until noon. He was fine until Monday morning and then had it again and then again last night and this morning. His stomach has been upset all day. Could this be a result of food poisoning or perhaps a case of the flu? He has not had a fever or headache.

Hello,

Does he have vomiting/nausea? The symptoms look like food poisoning. I suggest you give him ORS (oral rehydration solution) solution mix it will 500ml of water and give him, ask him to take plenty of water. I advise you to give him tablet Metronidazole BD ( twice daily after food) for 3 days. If symptoms persist I suggest you to consult a physician.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Indhu Priyadharshini
