Is Chronic Mononucleosis Syndrome Contagious?

Hello. My roommate at university as been diagnosed with Chronic Mono (EBV). She was first diagnosed with glandular fever back in February and she left university. She is returning to Uni this year. Is she infectious? I am an honours Biology student at Univ of St. Andrews and my coursework is very intense between lectures and 4 labs. Thank you for your guidance on this matter. - Katherine

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

If the person is suffering from infectious mononucleosis , he is infective. But there is stoppage of disease transmission , once the person is cured. So donot worry.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Varinder Joshi , General & Family Physician
