Hi..
Can understand your concern..

As per your complain antibiotics are given in case of dental infection and pain in order to reduce the infection caused by bacteria as the antibiotics work only against bacteria whereas painkillers like ibuprofen and many others are given to reduce pain..

In case if amoxicillin did not work there can be resistance to it and it comes under the category of drug resistance and in that case any alternate antibiotic suitable for dental infection can be given and Clindamycin is one among those..

Clindamycin can definitely help in reducing infection and ibuprofen can reduce pain but in case if the source of infection that is the infected teeth will be present the infection will keep on flaring up and cause you pain..

So it is better to take a course of antibiotics and painkillers for 5 days and after that get the teeth extracted..

Hope this information helps..
