Is Clotty Bleeding Post Intercourse A Cause For Concern?
I am 53 yrs old & still have regular periods. My last period ended 3-4 days ago. My husband & I just had intercourse. During, it felt like he hit something & it hurt for a moment & stopped. Afterwards, we noticed there was a lot of blood. I went to the bathroom & it was as bad, if not worse, than during my heaviest part of menstruation. I even had a pretty large clot . This blood seemed much darker (red, not brown like I read about on other sites just now). This has never happened before. Should I be concerned.
General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
The bleeding you had may be due to pre-menopausal hormonal imbalance still its needful to exclude certain conditions so I would advise for: - Rest till the bleeding stops / take capsule CVP gynecologist 2 caps three times a day - Consult a gynecologist earliest in case of no improvement in 3 days? After bleeding control for a detailed physical examination and investigations to rule out complications.by followed by specific treatment.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
