Hi & Welcome.

I appreciate your concern following the dog bite and not having insurance.

A consultation is advisable.

Well, as you know rabies is a fatal disease that is transmitted by the dog bite. You have to take FIVE shots of Anti rabies vaccine ON days 0, 3, 7, 14 and 28 following the dog bite to protect your self from the possiblity of getting rabies.

Beside you need to take one shot (intramuscular injection) of tetnaus toxoid and the treatment of the wound for that you have to consult a doctor.

Since you do not have insurance coverage you can visit the ER of the Govt. run hospital in your area the doctor there will examine you and prescribe the treatment as suggested above.

May be in some centres such cases are managed by paramedics, in that case you need not have to consult a doctor as long as you do not have any associated complications.

So, do not delay in seeking the health care protect yourself from getting rabies.

Wishing you a very good health.

A feed back is appreciated.
