Is Cough A Side Effect Of Taking Lisinopril?

I had a heart attack in August and I was prescribed lisinopril and Metoprolol for Blood pressure. I was given simvastatin for high cholesterol and Plavix from what I have researched it s a preventative medication for future heart problems. When I went for a follow up my doctor he continued me on all the above medications. I have been experiencing severe coughing attacks which start with a dry tickle in the throat and I end up coughing uncontrollably, mucus coming out my nose and almost fainting.I have approached my heart doctor about the problem and asked if it could me one of the meds and he stated absolutely not. I went to my primary care doctor and she has prescribed me flu meds and cough syrup multiple times with no relief. Between My daughter, friends and myself we have all done research and it appears that there is a strong chance that this is a side effect of the lisinopril. I have 2 questions. First is this type of coughing a side effect of the Lisinopril? and if so is there an alternative medication I can take. I also would like to know if you have any advice on how to approach my heart doctor about this issue, being that he is so adamant that none of the medications I am taking have side effects. I mean NONE according to him. As I mentioned I have spoken to several people who have had this coughing problem and in each situation it was as easy as changing meds to remedy. Thank you Tanya Beller

ENT Specialist 's  Response
hello. well the cough is most likely to be due to lisinoprol and it is a known side effect of the drug. if it is bothering you so much , you will have to change the category of your blood pressure medication. you can either consult your doctor again or meet another physician , who will be able to help you. the alternative drugs, although many also have side effects and it is better you consult your physician before changing your drug. thanks
