Is Cough After Inhaling Clorox Outdoor Bleach A Sign Of Something Serious?
My husband inhaled clorox professional strength outdoor bleach for a period of 1hour. He started coughing profusely... So he stepped out for fresh air. After 5 hours, his throat is irritated and causes him to cough. Should he see a doctor or is there a home remedy to treat this.
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic. I can understand your concern. Clorox fumes are very irritant in nature. On inhalation, it can cause inflammatory changes in throat, trachea and lungs. 1 hour exposure to these fumes is not very serious. But this can lead to bronchitis in some cases. At present, no need to worry for bronchitis in your husband's case, but if coughing worsens or he develops breathlessness then immediately consult pulmonologist to rule out bronchitis. Ask him to avoid stress and tension, be relax and calm. Take deep inhalation of fresh air. Start oral anti inflammatory drugs. He will mostly improve in 1-2 days. If not improving then immediately consult pulmonologist. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wishing good health to your husband. Thanks.
