My great nephew was diagnosed with coxsacki virus now I beleive I have it. The dr at urgent care said it was an alergy first then the next day I called back and because the spots were on my feet in my toes he said I have the virus now. I have been staying home from work and away from family members how long do I have to do this befor I am not contagious any more?
Coxsackieviruses are very contagious. They can be passed from person to person on unwashed hands and surfaces contaminated by feces.
They also can be spread through droplets of fluid sprayed into the air when someone sneezes or coughs. It is more contagious in the first week of symptoms.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
